What use is an idea, if it only stays as an idea?

Everyone has ideas, every single day but it’s only the few who act on those ideas and even fewer who actually persist with the idea when times get tough.

I’ve lost count of how many conversations I’ve had with people and they’ve told me they’ve had this brilliant idea for a business or something else they are going to start. I love hearing about ideas, I could talk about them all day long. I’m a very hypothetical person and love talking about how you could make something possible. What I love more though is talking to someone who’s actually making something of that idea, acting on it and turning it into something.

I’m only 24 but I’ve had so many business ideas and never really acted on them but there was a point over 12 months where I became fed up of not following up on the ideas I was having so I told myself “The next idea that comes along, you need to act on it”

The phrase that has constantly remained in my head during this time is “Talkers talk and doers do.” or any sort of variation of that phrase. Whenever times got tough and it didn't look like the idea might turn into something or progression was slow, that phrase came back to me. It kept me going and it kept me moving, one foot in front of the other.

“Talkers talk and doers do.”

Ideas don’t pay bills, don’t pay mortgages, don’t pay tuition fees, in fact that pay for naff all. Anyone can have a great idea but it takes a great person to turn that idea into something tangible, something real.

My favourite slogan of all time is Nike’s because of how simple it is.

Just Do It.

If you’ve got an idea, that’s great but I can’t stress this enough. Please do something about it. Make a move, act on it, just do something about it.

Because when an idea stays as just an idea, you’ll never find out if that idea actually could have become something, it could change your life but you’ll never know that if it stays as just an idea. Whether it works out or not, at least you’ve tried.

I know that you probably have your doubts and you’re probably scared to act because of the fear of what other people may say about what you’re doing and trust me, I get it. It’s a big hurdle to overcome but like I said before that ideas don’t pay bills, other people’s opinion don’t pay your bills either so sod them. Once you get past that fear, that’s when you start living.

There’s nothing to lose if you just give an idea a shot. All you do is say “ah well” take the lessons you’ve learned and move on to the next idea.

I realise that I may be preaching so that’s why I haven’t written a post like this until I actually had some sort of proof myself that I was acting on an idea and turning it into something.

For the last 12 months, if not longer I’ve been working on a business called ‘Behind Sport
