Meeting problems head on.
Everyone’s got problems. They range in severity, of course but everyone has got something going on.
I’m fortunate and I’m grateful that right now, I don’t really have any major problems in my life but I’ve talked to a few people this week that do. It’s funny how when you’re talking about something, you start seeing things that are relevant. So whilst talking to a few people about things that were going on in their lives, I saw this as a scrolled through Instagram.
I paused for a second and, after laughing for the second at the absurdity of seeing something so relevant I carried on scrolling. However, I kept thinking about that post and the idea of facing problems head on.
“Don’t ignore something because it makes you uncomfortable.”
Problems aren’t nice to have but the longer we leave them, the worse they can get. It can seem daunting to face the problem and get it resolved but is that really worse than leaving the problem to compound and get worse? In my eyes, not at all.
I have always likened facing up to a problem to removing a plaster. The thought of taking a plaster off can be awful, but the longer we think about it, the worse it gets. The best to deal with a plaster and it always will be is to rip the thing off in one swift motion.
The same can be applied to problems in life, sometimes it’s just about taking that jump, facing it head on and sorting it.
Unfortunately, not every problem is that simple but taking that first step towards action is ultimately going to set you on the right path.
We tend to shy away from our problems because living with them is a lot more comfortable then facing them but a lot of people see that first initial step of facing a problem as this massive mountain mountain when really it’s not as big as you think and once you’re over that initial hill, it becomes a lot easier.
I suppose that goes for most things in life, starting is the hardest part.
Whatever you’re facing right now, remember that you’re not alone. A problem shared is a problem halved so if there are people around that you trust, talk to them. I always find it amazing how much better you feel after verbalising a problem to someone.
Problems won’t go away if you just ignore them, it’s not how it works. Face them head on, walk towards them and solve them. Become a person of action who gets stuff done, sorts problems out and lives their life on their terms.
