The opportunity amongst the chaos

We’re coming to the end of the first three weeks of lockdown and I think the novelty of it is starting to wear off a little bit now.

It looks like the lockdown is going to be extended as well so I think we’ll be in this situation for the foreseeable future.

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about the negatives of this situation (and yes there are many) but there are also a number of positives.

Lockdown and enforced time at home is basically at free hit at all the things you’ve wanted to do and never have the time for when life is “normal”.

This is an opportunity start that business, launch that podcast, start writing that book, read all those books you’ve been buying, start that project. The list is endless but the main point is the opportunity is there.

Times like this come around once in a lifetime, maybe not even that.

We’re being given a chance to radically change our lives if we want to, it’s a free shot at it. I don’t know about you but I’m going to take it.

When it became obvious that we were heading into a lockdown I said to myself that I wanted to make sure that I came out the other side of lockdown in a better position than when I entered it.

It’s strange, don’t get me wrong and it’s taken a bit of adjusting and getting used to but I’m trying to be as productive as I can be each day now.

I do think that the definition of productive has changed a little bit though. Something like this has never happened before and a lot of people are struggling to deal with it. I completely understand it because this whole thing is crazy. So if a productive day to you looks more like getting out of bed, getting dressed, going for a walk and doing a few chores then so be it, that’s still a productive day. Then you slowly build it from there.

Listen, this is all mad but I hope people will start to see the opportunity that is currently sat in front of us. Let’s sure we take it while we can.

Stay safe.

See you next week.
