The second lockdown.

It was probably the news that none of us really wanted to hear but kind of expected.

We’re heading back into a national lockdown later this week meaning we’re heading back into what is going to be a bit of a tough time. Especially with us also heading into the winter months, it’s probably not going to be much fun.

With it being the only thing everyone seems to be talking about, I wanted to note down a few of my thoughts and things I learned from the last lockdown and how I might do things a little differently this time.

1.) Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

I wanted to be super productive in the last lockdown but that wasn’t always the case. I underestimated how mentally it was at times and the self applied pressure wasn’t needed. These are unprecedented times, don’t be too hard on yourself.

The same goes for exercise. Yes, it will certainly help to move a little each day to get the blood flowing but it’s not the end of the world if you miss a few days.

2.) Survived the first one, will survive this one.

I think a lot of people underestimate this idea or haven’t even thought of it. You have to give yourself credit where it’s due. We survived the first lockdown, we can get through this one as well.

3.) It’s not going to last forever.

Like with most things in life, we think it’s going to be the be all and end all. However, it isn’t going to last forever and hopefully if all goes to plan this one won’t either. All we have to do is work towards December 2nd.

4.) Talk to those around you.

“For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.”

Lean on those around you for support during these troubling times. Life is tough right now and we must use the help and support of our loved ones. With so many awful things going on in the world right now, it’s more important than ever to keep our loved ones and friends close. Do all you can to speak with them during lockdown.

A problem shared is a problem halved.

I’m not saying it’s going to be easy but I feel using these 4 tips is going to help during this lockdown for the next month. If you feel you’ve got no one to turn to and need an ear to listen, my DMs are always open on Twitter — @jack_glennon

Look after yourselves.

See you next week.
